The song was written in 1911 by US vice president Charles G Dawes as an instrumental “Melody In A Major” and words were added to song by Carl Sigman in 1951. It was a hit for Tommy Edwards in 1951 reaching the #14 on the Billboard. Tommy Edwards later re-recorded it as a rock n roll arrangement in 1958, which soared to the #1 position on the Billboard for 6 weeks.
