1812 was an incredible year: Americas second war with the British had broken out, Jane Austen saw Pride and Prejudice go to print, Grimms Fairy Tales was read for the first time, and the residents of Auburn celebrated their first Christmas in their beautiful mansion in the Mississippi Territory.

Today, Auburn is owned by the city of Natchez, Mississippi and is currently a house museum. In a town filled with Greek Revival mansions, Auburn stands alone as the finest and purest example of Federal Neo-Classical architecture. If you are a fan of historic architecture and of historic home tours

At Christmas time, Auburn is decorated in a style appropriate for its age. You won't find Christmas trees in the parlor, stockings at the fire, or chestnuts roastings. What you will find are boughs of holly, balls of mistletoe, piles of oranges, and the most spectacular staircase in the region!

For those of you who haven't been able to stop by and visit us this season, we wanted to share a peek of our holiday cheer with you! This is just a little taste of the beauty hidden behind these 211 year old doors; we hope to welcome you in person sometime soon! MERRY CHRISTMAS from all of us at Historic Auburn
