In the second season of The Rings of Power, Adar has a new actor, and fans may be wondering why Joseph Mawle isn't playing the role anymore. The first season of The Rings of Power features Adar, an original character, in a somewhat enigmatic role. Later on, it becomes clear that he is one of the Elves that Morgoth tormented. Additionally, season 2 of The Rings of Power depicts his attempt to kill Sauron in order to stop him from ruling the Orcs. For this reason, the Orcs refer to him as "father," and they aid him in capturing the Southlands.

In the first season of The Rings of Power, Mawle portrays Adar with great skill, eloquently expressing both the villain's sympathy for the Orcs and his resentment of his past. Despite being the antagonist, Adar is a compelling character thanks to the actor's portrayal. It should come as no surprise that Mawle blended seamlessly into a popular fantasy series following his time as Game of Thrones Benjen Stark. In The Rings of Power season 2, Sam Hazeldine has big shoes to fill, but his performance in the first three episodes gives fans hope that he'll be a fantastic stand-in.
