Indonesian independence was not achieved easily. Apart from heroes who fought on the battlefield, Islamic figures also played an important role in the struggle. Islamic clerics and leaders led physical resistance and raised fighting spirit through Islamic teachings that prioritize justice and humanity.

Islamic boarding schools are centers of socio-political movements, where Islamic youth are educated about nationalism and struggle. Islamic teachings such as justice, brotherhood and the spirit of jihad provide a strong moral foundation for fighters.

The contribution of ulama and Islamic boarding schools is not only limited to physical combat, but also forms the ideological and moral foundations of the nation.
