As I ventured into the vibrant heart of Pattaya, I was on a mission – to discover the rich, authentic flavours of the traditional Turkish döner kebab. The initiation of this quest was marked by an unexpected encounter the day prior. Two new acquaintances, Altug and Sercan, both Turkish natives, had stirred my interest in their homeland's popular delicacy. Their enticing chicken kebab, a delightful discovery during my uncharted walk, held a promise of freshness and flavour. Altug's commitment to serving only the freshest fare, guaranteed by a daily preparation of a fresh 10KG spit, added to the lure.

The versatility of Altug's establishment extended beyond serving sumptuous kebabs. It was also the place to discover the 'green magic', a term suggestive of the local speciality. Explorers seeking this unique culinary delight would know exactly where to go. Equipped with my camera, I delved deeper into the neighbourhoods of Pattaya, capturing the essence of its everyday life. This often involved adventurous encounters, such as a close call with a disgruntled street dog perturbed by my presence.

A significant pit-stop during this quest involved tasting a Budweiser beer, courtesy of a recommendation from a group of Indian visitors. However, my taste buds felt otherwise, ranking it below my personal favourites. Yet, the adventure continued, with the tropical heat of Pattaya providing a sharp contrast to the ongoing rainy season, a testament to the city's indomitable spirit. The quest for the authentic Turkish döner kebab had indeed transformed into an exploration of Pattaya's culinary and cultural landscape.
