Today on the workbench we have an A1990 that needs some of its keyboard keys fixed. The MacBook keyboards in the 2016 to 2019 machines are really junk. They have an extremely small amount of travel, they are loud, they are prone to debris jamming them up, and the dome switches are prone to oxidation. Also do not let the first sentence in Apple's own service program fool you (https://support.apple.com/keyboard-se...) it is not a "small percentage" it is every last one made!
For a few malfunctioning keys it makes sense to repair each key instead of replacing the whole keyboard. In this video I show you how to replace just a key cap as well as how to replace the whole butterfly mechanism with the dome switch.

If you have a device that needs repair bring it in or mail it in.
