This unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula was made in 1922 by F. W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as Count Orlok (the unauthorized Count Dracula). Due to a lawsuit from Stoker's widow, the film was supposed to have been destroyed. Thankfully for film history, it was not. The filmmakers behind the 1931, Bela Lugosi version of Dracula were able to get a print of this movie and took lots of inspiration from this film. Before the Robert Eggers version comes out, watch the original.
