Murugan Temple, Madampe, Srilanka
The Chilaw Murugan Temple, also known as the Punchi Kataragama Temple, is a significant Hindu temple located in Madampe, near Chilaw in Sri Lanka. This temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the Hindu god of war, who is also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, Kumara, and Subrahmanya.

The temple is renowned for its vibrant and colorful façade, as well as the impressive statues of Lord Murugan, Hanuman, and Shiva at its entrance. Inside, you can find statues of Goddess Parvati and Ganesha as well. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly, remove their shoes before entering, and maintain silence to respect the sacred space.

The best time to visit the temple is between October and March, as the region experiences monsoon rains from April to September. The temple also has facilities for traditional offerings and a vegetarian restaurant nearby
