The 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s elder brother Aijaz Ahmad Guroo is contesting the assembly elections as an Independent candidate from the Sopore assembly segment. Guroo took voluntary retirement from the animal husbandry department in 2014, and is currently working as a contractor. Speaking to ThePrint, Guroo said Kashmir, especially Sopore has been a victim for the past several years.
