A digital storage oscilloscope is used to record the induced emf when a magnet is dropped through a coil. An excellent A-level physics demonstration (or practical if you have enough oscilloscopes). There are so many questions you can ask for students to explain features and predict what will happen when you make changes. This prepares them really well for when exam questions come up on it.
