In my attempt to create a plausible situation where a tile or heavy object could drop on a tile shower pan, I built two tile shower pan mock ups; one foam and one mud. I dropped different heavy objects on each to simulate a real world scenario and document the results.
Accidents do happen! Watch this video to see which type of pan gives you the best insurance against damage from a heavy falling object.
My hope is that these videos will help educate homeowners, DIY's, and contractors to build tiled showers that are properly waterproofed.
