Video Transcript: Flow-Rite's V3 livewell control valve features three positions: RECIRC, EMPTY, and AUTO. Let's take a quick look at what each position does and how it works.

The valve is shown here in the “EMPTY” position. When you're ready to fill the livewell, place the actuator in the “AUTO” position and turn on the pump. Fresh water will flow from the transom, and as the livewell fills, a percentage of water will also flow into the valve from the livewell drain.

Now, put the valve in the "RECIRC" position. This closes off outside water with a special, spring-loaded flapper and puts the livewell into recirculation only.

Finally, once your fishing day is over, turn off the pump and put the valve in the "EMPTY" position. This will allow water to drain from the livewell but will not allow water back in.

Now let's take another look at the "AUTO" position. As we saw before, the "AUTO" position brings in both fresh outside water and recirculated water from the livewell drain. But why is it called "AUTO"? When the boat is brought up on plane and fresh water is no longer available, the transom side of the valve closes automatically, putting the livewell into recirculation only. Once the boat is brought back off plane, the transom side of the valve opens, and fresh outside water begins to flow again.
