Follow up video to Use garage band’s new taiko instrument to set up an incredible “practice at home” taiko set using Apple’s new Taiko set for Garage Band! Perfect practice setup for playing at home during COVID... This video also covers how to download the taiko set on GB and using the camera connection kit.

You will need:
• an iOS device with Garage Band (I'm not sure how well it works on older devices.. I have tested it on the iPad Pro 1st Generation, the new iPad Pro 2019 version and an iPhone 8 and it works like a charm! I'm using an iPhone 8 in this video.

• A camera connection kit / USB hub to plug into your iOS device. Preferably one with a headphone output. You can also search for one that will transmit MIDI data but they all should. I used a really cheap older one with the iPhone 8 and it worked perfectly :)

•An electronic drum pad with ASSIGNABLE pads. I'm using the Alesis Samplepad 4.

NOTE: Garage Band prefers MIDI information being sent on channel 1. So make sure your drum pad is "sending" MIDI on MIDI channel 1. You can usually find this under “Global Settings - MIDI”.

Also important: new apple devices don’t have a headphone out jack. They expect us all to use Bluetooth... but Bluetooth headphones will give you a TON OF LATENCY. Meaning what your playing will take a split second to reach your headphones... which doesn’t work well with midi instruments. You need to be able to plug your headphones into the device with a physical plug.
