I was so inspired by the intricate textures and vibrant hues found in this rusted metal. This rusted nut and bolt has a mesmerizing array of patterns and colors as a result of oxidation and corrosion. Whether it's the delicate filigree of rust spreading across the surface or the contrast between the warm, earthy tones of rust and the cooler metallic shades beneath, there's a wealth of visual interest to explore.

I kept a keen eye on capturing the play of light and shadow on the rusted textures, emphasizing the depth and dimensionality of the rust patterns. Additionally, the warm palette of rust colors – ranging from deep reds and oranges to dark browns and yellows – offered endless opportunities for creative expression.


Started by light sketching of the outline of the nut and bolt on the grey painted canvas.
After applying the base warm colors, I waited for sometime to dry. Then started adding textures of the rusted areas using a small brush. This will help create the appearance of flaky rust and corroded metal.
Paid attention to the edges and joints of the nut and bolt where rust accumulated the most.
It is good to use good reference images to guide you in creating realistic rust patterns and textures.
