A 1977 assessment of things to come from Donald Aldous looks to the future and probably the first European TV demonstration of the Sony Betamax system both as a PCM audio player and video recorder. Joe, a BBC Plymouth presenter was a world authority on the subject, conducting international lecture tours. Together with BBC Plymouth engineer David Dunmall he developed an improved cylinder player using modern magnetic cartridges.
