Tambov is the center of the Tambov region, located on a hill at the confluence of the Tsna and Studenza rivers, founded in 1636. Tambov is located among the Russian Plain in the Central Black Earth Region, 500 kilometers from Moscow and is part of the Central Federal District. Tambov region borders with the Penza, Ryazan, Saratov, Lipetsk and Voronezh regions. The area of the Tambov region is about 35 thousand square kilometers. The administrative center, the city of Tambov, is located almost in the center of the Tambov region. Convenient location, as well as relative proximity to the capital, have always had a positive impact on the city’s economy. In addition, large highways pass through the city, connecting it with other Volga cities, the south and the center of Russia.

The undoubted attraction of the city and its visiting card is the promenade. The embankment stretches from the park and ends in the stadium area. In warm weather, it is a favorite place for walking.

A few years ago, the city began the grand construction of a new attraction, which promises to be really beautiful and to decorate the city. This is the bell tower of the Kazan Cathedral, 99.6 m high, and one of the highest bell towers in Russia. It consists of five tiers, it is planned to place about 30 bells, the weight of the main bell is supposed to be about 60 tons.

The most recognizable symbol of the city was the Tambov Wolf. The Tambov wolf in the city can be found on souvenirs - mugs, T-shirts and magnets. There are indeed wolves in the forests of Tambov, but there are not so many of them as it seems. In addition, there is no wolf in the city itself. A small architectural form dedicated to the Wolf, made of wood, stands at the exit to the city. Wooden wolves have become the favorites of tourists who come to the city by car.
