Have you ever experienced or heard of labor that starts and stops several times over hours, days or even weeks? Labor that is painful and distracting, but does not get stronger or more regular to progress to active labor with cervical change? This is called prodromal labor and it can be a part of some early labors. It can be discouraging and frustrating, as you've been working hard through contractions only to find no cervical change. In this video we will review what is prodromal labor, how it compares to true labor and Braxton Hicks, why it occurs, tips for managing and possibly progressing prodromal labor into an active contractions pattern.
