Hope Masike is a young Zimbabwean musician and singer who brings the instrument mbira into popular culture. The mbira is a tumpiano, with metal keys against a wooden base that gives a special jarring resonance. In Shona culture the instrument has been widely used in ceremonies such as weddings and funerals, but also to connect with spirits and is called "the voice of the ancestors".

With her mbira, Hope Masike has collaborated with bands in various genres, such as hip hop and jazz, and she takes the instrument in new directions, in the footsteps of iconic mbira players such as Stella Chiweshe and Thomas Mapfumo. Here she offers a concert from Harare together with her band.
