(*English below*)Typische Geräte des AWI Eislabors stellen sich vor: Im größten Eislabor Europas kommen sie zum Einsatz und bringen uns ein Ständchen. Von Eiskernkisten zu verschiedenen Sägen zum Zerschneiden der Eiskerne oder Glasplatten zum Aufkleben der Proben teilen sich auch diverse Messgeräte mit. Diese reichen vom Large Area Scanning Macroscope (schwarz mit rotem Licht - analysiert Eigenschaften wie Eiskristallgröße und -form) zum Fabric Analyser (Analyse der Kristallorientierung) bis hin zu Raman Spektroskopie, welches per Xbox-Controller gesteuert wird und die Identifikation der Mineralogie von Einschlüssen im Eis ermöglicht.

Some typical devices of the AWI ice lab in action: They play their part in Europe's biggest ice lab and come together to perform some music. Aside from ice containers and cutters to preserve and cut the ice and glass plates to attach samples to, there is also a set of instruments performing for you. You'll hear and see a Large Area Scanning Macroscope (black, with a red light - analyses properties such as size and shape of ice crystals), a Fabric Analyser (analyses the alignement of crystals) and a Raman Spectroscopy, which is controlled by an Xbox-Controller and helps to identify the mineral properties of inclusions in the ice.
