This simple but brilliant burger was invented during the Great depression out of necessity. Beef was expensive, but onions were cheap, so to make up for the smaller patties a big pile of thinly sliced onion was cooked on top. People loved it, however, and it has stood the test of time. It is now more popular than ever and has become my favorite way to cook a burger :) Enjoy!
