Words in Indigenous languages hold knowledge and ideas acquired over millennia. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls for the preservation, revitalization, and strengthening of Indigenous languages across Canada. We are doing our part by recording an introduction to Circles for Reconciliation in multiple Indigenous languages.
In this video Goliath Harper provides a greeting in Oji-Cree.

[Translation: Greetings and welcome to Circles for Reconciliation. The Truth and Reconciliation commissioners define reconciliation as an ongoing process of establishing and maintaining respectful relationships. We are trying to do our part. We are a grassroots partnership between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Winnipeg with the goal of fostering reconciliation. We do this by setting up circles composed of 10 persons each (5 are Indigenous people and 5 are non-Indigenous). Each circle meets once a week for 10 weeks. There is no cost to join as a participant. Each circle meeting is just over an hour and Circles are held at locations all over Winnipeg and across Canada.
What is a circle like? How does it work? Look through our website and you will see lots of information. If you wish to register, you can do it and about two minutes right on our website.
Our non-Indigenous participants tell us how much they are learning and how much they value the new friends they are meeting. And our Indigenous participants tell us how they appreciate being listened to and respected. Please come and join us (provides web address)].

This is an ongoing project with more languages to come!
