Jet Jaguar faces off against a more skilled, experienced Megalon than ever before in a desperate struggle to bring their loved ones back to life!

Tip: Pause at 00:34 to read the newspaper, it contains an important bit of context for the scene. I made it fly past the camera way too fast.

I've been pouring passion, effort, frustration, and lots of time to bring you this Magnum Opus of my channel! There's a lot of reasons that I couldn't resist for making this film, the first being the Godzilla 50th anniversery short films being released by other fans and Toho themselves. The second is that coincidentally Megalon is my second Favorite Kaiju, and Jet Jaguar is the favorite for a sibling of mine, so this is a treat for the both of us. And finally and most important is how underrated these kaiju are, and how they've been treated in the community. Jet Jaguar and Megalon have appeared most frequently in lists of most hated kaijus, and have been shunned by fans and even toho themselves at times. (which is why I was shocked to see them release their own short films respecting these kaiju, to which I am extremely greatful.)

Jet Jaguar has always been viewed as nothing more than an Ultraman Knockoff, and made purely to appeal to children. To break away from that, I gave Jet Jaguar a more bulky design with thrusters that pop out to look more like a robot than a guy in a suit. (Courtesey of my previously mentioned sibling for designing and doing half of the modelling on Jet Jaguar, she did an excellent job!) I also gave him a purely human personality, being akin to a mute person, that way he could be more relatable and likeable. I also added more dark moments in the film to make it feel less kiddish, and like the more serious Godzilla films that most fans respect. But also what makes him underrated is that there is a huge factor that makes him distinct from Ultraman, that being his positive energy. Jet Jaguar goes into everything with a smile, and I love how unapologetically positive energy he is around all these other vicious monsters. He has so much more charm and style than Ultraman in my opinion, like just imagine 22:46 with Ultraman's Flat expressionless face. It just wouldn't work.

As far as Megalon, he's always been viewed as a childish, pathetic villain who's meant to be nothing more than a comic relief for kids. Personally I find the idea of a Legendary God belonging to a lost civilization with an EPIC design being summoned to seek revenge on humanity for destroying their homeland with atomic bombs - only for him to turn out to be a big crybaby who throws tantrums and constantly taunts and t-bags his foes to be absolutely hilarious and part of why I love him so much. While watching Wikizilla I was fascinated by the statement that Megalon is actually extremely powerful and deadly, but he just doesn't know how to use his powers. A bit like a toddler with a machine gun. I modelled this Megalon to be more menacing, experienced, and concentrated, with the very occasional taunt to opponents. He is essentially exactly as powerful as the Megalon from Godzilla vs Megalon, only with much more experience. I do honestly feel that my version of Megalon could kill Showa Godzilla by himself.

Another reason I made this film is to teach myself a lesson. For the past year or two, I've been a bit like Jet Jaguar at 5:42. I've had a desire for a special relationship in my life, and felt alone and uncontent without one. So I used Jet Jaguar and Megalon to teach a moral about being content without the love you want. All the tension that's built up in the fight scenes isn't because the world is collapsing, or because there's evil aliens trying to take over the world, or because there's an unstoppable force of destruction threatening to wipe out a civilization, it's because there's two people fighting to get back the people they love. And that doesn't really lower the stakes, because our loved ones are worth fighting for. In the end, Megalon did not deserve the Jinsei stone. But Jet Jaguar gave it to him because he needed to learn to be content without the love he desired, and he also knew Megalon needed it more. Gigan is the only one who really understands Megalon, and without him Megalon has absolutely no one, so you could understand why he'd feel the need to steal from Jet Jaguar. Weather it's platonic or romantic, love is one of the most important things in life. But it'll never last if it's stolen. The best thing to do is it wait patiently until it comes. And it WILL come.

I do not claim ownership of Jet Jaguar or Megalon, rights belong to Toho!
