The musical “Romeo & Juliet” will open at the New National Theatre Playhouse in Tokyo on May 16, 2024 (Thursday). On Wednesday, May 15, the day before the opening day, an open dress rehearsal was held.

The musical “Romeo & Juliet” was born in France in 2001 and has been a mega-hit, attracting more than 6 million people in over 20 countries around the world. The musical “Romeo & Juliet” (Japan original version), based on Shakespeare's masterpiece but with an original setting, was newly created in 2011 to follow the great success of the performance by the Takarazuka Revue directed by Shuichiro Koike in 2010.
