Austrians of Pozuzo - One Hundred Years of Solitude in the Mountains
In the mid-19th century, a group of Tyrolean settlers arrived in Peru. After months of travel, building a road through the jungle and the mountains, they established a colony. An unprecedented effort allowed them to survive 100 years isolated, and thanks to this, they preserved numerous cultural elements from the Austrian mountains. Today, they proudly identify as Peruvians.
