I set off that day knowing there was a chance of a heavy storm and sadly to some extent the forecast was right and I had to cut the ride short, as refreshing as the rain was at times.

We take a cycle ride along Sustrans Route 8, the Taff Trail, up into the Brecon Beacons National Park along Pontsticill Reservoir where I have done a previous ride but this time we take the eastern side of the reservoir.

On the way we take a ride through the abandoned Morlais Railway Tunnel. You may wish to skip this bit if you find it a bit spooky. There are some strange things about this tunnel.

I ended up cooking my meal sheltering from the rain under some pine trees which was quite pleasant but at this point it was time to turn back. I didn't have enough good clothing with me for this type of weather to go further. As they say, the mountains will always be there tomorrow.
