I was asked to make this memorial urn in a book style by a customer for her late husband who was a carpenter and contractor.
It is made from 100% cherry. Exterior measures 11.5 x 9.14 x 5 inches.
The inner box will hold over 230 cubic inches.
A poem was engraved on the front and his name on the spine.
I added in walnut dowels for strength. Also used the table saw to create the book "page" look which I think came out very well.
Left the top unsecured (friction fit) with a book marker as a way to open the top.
The inner box has a sliding lid.
Finished in Watco Natural Danish Oil and a light coat of spray lacquer. The inner box has a coat of paste wax to allow it to slide easier.
