The action takes place on a summer night in the lounge-hall of "Rookery Nook", a house at Chumpton-on-Sea, Somerset.

Recently married Gerald Popkiss (Richard Briers) motors to Chumpton where his new sister-in-law can keep her eye on him. The question is - can he explain the beautiful, barefoot, pyjama-clad girl sleeping in his bed...?
