Wood Finishes Direct invite students in for work experience at their new training centre.

Local painting and decorating students enjoyed a day of work experience painting one the many scenescapes in their training centre. Their video production team captured the highlights of the day which will form part of the skill shortage awareness campaign being lead by Wood Finishes Direct.

Lecturer Bruce Kerney from Folkestone College discusses their painting and decorating program at the Folkestone college with the team at Wood Finishes Direct. He mentions that they teach students of all ages, from 16-year-olds to those in their sixties. Paige Broome, a student in the program, shares her interest in becoming an interior designer and how studying painting and decorating will give her more experience in that field.

Bruce explains that there are different types of decorating, including high-end work, and that companies are looking for apprentices who present themselves well. Jack Conway, another student, shares his motivation for joining the course and his desire to learn multiple trades.

Bruce concludes by mentioning that the small group of students he has are interested in pursuing careers in the industry.
