This is a quick overview of how I made a small slum in blender. It was inspired by the slums you see in third world countries. I made all of the textures from photographs of things I had laying around in my yard. I also made all of the assets including the kerosene can, the wheel and tire, the crates, pallets and satellite dish. In other word I made everything in this scene. And I think that is important because no one else on earth has access to these things (they are not available for download) making my work one of a kind. While I was making this I thought of this new idea for a series of blender videos that are told as if they where how to do something in real life. I have a few ideas for more but they will be much harder to make. This took about 2 weeks. The clip at the end was rendered using cycles at 256 samples and took about 11 hours to render that 5 second clip. I tried eevee but the lighting looked disgusting compared to cycles so it was well worth the extra time it took. Over all it was a fun project and I hope it can inspire others to create their own worlds in blender.
