Anna Maria Island on the Gulf Coast of Florida is widely considered one of the best islands and best beaches in the country. AMI consistently makes the top ten lists of travel magazines. It's surrounded by Tampa Bay to the northeast, Bradenton River and the Intracoastal Waterway to the east, and Sarasota Bay to the southwest. In the summer, the warm water rises up and creates huge thunderheads that drift out over the ocean and are lit up by the setting sun. At it's height in the summer it's truly the greatest show on Earth.
