After a derailment in South Carolina had damaged CSX’s A-Line corridor, several CSX and Amtrak trains were forced to be rerouted, including Amtrak’s flagship train, The Auto Train.
Mayhem ensued as dispatchers scrambled to get the trains rerouted with qualified crews available to pilot them. As a result, plenty of Amtrak trains were delayed by several hours, including one Auto Train being delayed nearly 20 hours. I put links below to articles covering both the derailment and the delays if you’re interested in knowing more.
Follow along as we catch two of these rerouted Amtrak trains in Raleigh, NC - they’re certainly unique ones!
