Bronwen is a postdoctoral researcher at University of Sussex, where she recently submitted her PhD in conservation science. Bronwen’s PhD focused on exploring how data from online platforms could be used to understand large-scale patterns of the hunting, trade and consumption of bats. As well as collecting threat records from social-media and online news, this involved monitoring the online trade of bats, using automated methods. She has a particular interest applying AI approaches to collecting and analysing crow-sourced data, in order to inform bat conservation.
