Here we trace the World History of Ball Games that evolved into the present form of Football. Played in various cultures, spread across varied geography, in various forms, differently known as Ulama (Aztecs), Tsu Chu (Chinese), Kemari (Japan), Marn Gook (Australian Aboriginals), Calcio (Italy), La Soule (France) this game takes us back in time by 3000 years. It was only the Aztecs who played with a rubber ball whereas others used stuffed ball of animal skin to pigs bladder or something akin to it. When Spanish encoutered the rubber ball of Ulama in late fifteenth century and early sixteenth century, they thought that the Ball had a life of its own since it could bounce back upon hitting the ground.

From enduring bans and ridicule, to becoming a means of Protest, restorer of self-esteem, harbinger of social reform and transformation this beautiful game has been a witness of human history, its travails and triumphs.
