Baked penne pasta is a popular pasta dish made by baking a layered mixture of cooked penne pasta, cooked meat sauce made by ground beef with spicy ingredients and white sauce made with all purpose cream and quick melt cheese. The Meat sauce si made by cooking ground beef with tomato sauce, tomato paste, onions, garlic, sugar, cooking cream, grated cheese and seasoned with Italian seasoning, pepper and salt. INGREDIENTS
For the penne pasta:
400 grams penne pasta (uncooked)
salt
water

For the meat sauce:
400 grams ground beef
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 cups tomato sauce
½ cup onions (minced)
3 cloves of garlic (minced)
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
½ cup cooking cream
½ cup grated cheese

For the white sauce:
1 cup all-purpose cream
1 cup quick-melt cheese

DIRECTIONS
For the penne pasta:
Boil some water in a pot. Add the salt and the penne pasta. See package instructions and cook until al dente.
Drain and set aside.
For the meat sauce:
In a pan, saute the ground beef, onion and garlic. Add the tomato paste and tomato sauce. Stir until well-blended.
Add the chopped green bell peppers and 1 piece beef broth cube. Season with salt, pepper, dried oregano and sugar. Add water or beef broth. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the cooking cream and some grated cheese. Stir until well-mixed. Let it cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
Turn the heat off. Reserve some meat sauce for toppings.
Add the cooked penne pasta to the meat sauce and stir until all the pasta is well-coated with the sauce. Set aside.
For the white sauce:
Heat the all-purpose cream in a pan using low heat.
Once boiling, add the quick-melt cheese. Stir continuously until it slightly melts.
Season with salt and pepper.
For the baked penne pasta:
Place half of the cooked penne pasta in a baking dish. Add a layer of white sauce. Add the rest of the cooked penne pasta. Add the reserved meat for toppings. Add some white sauce.
Top the pasta with mozzarella or quick-melt cheese and parmesan cheese.
Bake the penne pasta for 30 minutes using 180C or 350F.
Serve the baked penne pasta hot. Enjoy!
