Kaleidoscope is a colorful show.


Whenever a show or movie takes a risk and tells a story in a new and interesting way, I am instantly on its side. Netflix's Kaleidoscope does just that as it tells the story of a heist over the course of 24 years. What sets Kaleidoscope apart from the countless originals on Netflix is its unique viewing experience. Unlike most shows that you watch in a traditional episode order, Kaleidoscope's episode order is randomized to every Netflix account. Theoretically, each viewer gets a unique viewing experience as they try and peace the story together through the lens of their assigned order. This non-linear method of story telling makes for some fun audience investigation as well as potential rewatchability to experience the story through a different episode order. The question for Kaleidoscope is whether or not its core premise is a marketing gimmick or if it is true to the concept. Subsequently, does the story manage to stand on its own merits or is it held up by its unique viewing experience? I discuss these things and more in the video, I hope you enjoy!
