Is it true that the birthplace of Islam is not Mecca, but Petra?
Gürkan Engin

Indeed, if the city where the Messenger of Allah was born, the Qur'an sent down, the city where Islam spread, had been moved from one place to another by the Arabs at a time of history, it would be expected that there would be a lot of evidence in the sources of both Muslims' sources and other cultures that contacted Muslims. But we see that there is not even any concrete evidence nor a debate or even objection about the subject. Besides, Petra was a place under Roman control. Imagine that, if the message of Qur'an would come out of this area, the Roman records would have had a lot of information from the early Muslims, but did not. In fact, this explanation alone is sufficient, but the topic has become so popular that it is useful to examine the issue in more depth.
