Miller's Homestead was built around 1888 for James John Miller, who became the first President of the Shire of Ferntree Gully in 1889, The homestead also known as 'Melrose' is classified by the National Trust Australia (Vic).

The single storey brick residence is believed to have been designed by English architect Thomas Hunter. Miller's is characterised by two large bay windows with French doors instead of windows and by the encircling timber. It features a cast iron verandah trim, marble fireplaces, etched glass panels and high quality joinery, still in their original condition.
