Andy was experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath, so his cardiologist referred him to the heart experts at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver for a coronary bypass from cardiothoracic surgeons Dr. Fred Milla and Dr. Megan Loo. His procedure was routine until mid-surgery when Andy went into cardiac arrest, and surgeons uncovered additional blockage, requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to stabilize and save his life.
