“The Path”

I’m so excited about this one!!!! Perspective, depth of focus, and blur have been so tough for me to get right. This image had all of them, and I knew it was really going to be a challenge. So I took my time and really paid attention to exactly WHAT created those things in the photo. I get giddy when my art turns out how I want it to (it’s still pretty rare lol), so I’m over the moon with this one!

I also tend to choose really vibrant images. This was a big departure from my normal style, but I also wanted to challenge myself with using a neutral palette and relying only on tone to capture the elements and distance. To prevent myself from getting too sidetracked by color, I worked from the B&W image only.

Soft pastel on Colourfix original acid free paper, approx 9x11. Mostly Terry Ludwig pastels.
