I've been getting a lot of questions from viewers lately asking me to explain various things, so I have taken this as a prompt to finally start digging through my year-and-a-half old list of video ideas. One big subject that can generally be regarded as absolute voodoo nonsense is the Chrysler kickdown linkage. It's very important to have this right for proper Torqueflite transmission operation, and yet it is often wrong - oh, so very wrong... Anyway, in today's video, I explain why the kickdown is so important, the different types of factory linkages, the common aftermarket replacement for the factory linkage, and how all of those options work. I also cover the common reasons for the kickdown being out of whack - namely, the almost ubiquitous aftermarket four barrel carburetor upgrade... This same information applies to the Torqueflite 727 and 904, and even newer RWD layout, Torqueflite-based Chrysler transmissions such as to the 46RH and 46RE.
