In this webinar, we introduce new reverse engineering tools in T-Splines 3.3 for Rhino. This will be a free upgrade for everyone that has T-Splines v3 for Rhino.

The goal of this webinar is to show how to apply a watertight T-Splines surface to a scanned mesh. Sky's presentation will be pretty expansive, ranging from discussions about shape and accuracy, to the nuts and bolts of how you actually run the commands. As he demos the software, he will introduce how T-Splines can be used in three reverse engineering use cases.

First, modeling new forms from a scan. Sometimes you have scanned data that you want to use as a reference, then create a new variation. Sky will demonstrate this by adding a scoop to a scanned car hood.

Second, modeling for shape. When Sky scanned his airplane nose bowl, he wasn't as interested in nailing the manufactured imperfections as he was with reverse engineering how the shape ought to be, and he'll show how to use T-Splines is that is your aim.

Finally, Sky will talk about modeling for accuracy and how you can measure that accruacy, using as an example a guitar neck he is reproducing for a client.

Today Sky will be using T-Splines 3.3 as a plugin for Rhino 5, which is also in beta. It's important to note that T-Splines 3.3 works with both Rhino 4 and Rhino 5.
