Have you ever worked for someone who puts equal emphasis on all of the tasks he gives you? As you are working on one project, he gives you another and expects both to be accomplished at the same time. That can be very difficult. It often helps to know which task is most important and it also helps to have a list based on order of importance. When you know which task is due first, it helps you to prioritize your time and effort to get things done.

In our study today, we will see a similar situation. The Old Testament law contained over 600 commandments and the Jewish people wondered which ones were the most important. This had become quite a conversation, and some were still wondering if certain laws should be classified as of primary importance and others as secondary. What would you say was most important to God? This question will be addressed in our passage today.
