Prof. Bohlander holds the Chair in Global Law and SETI Policy at Durham Law School (UK). His professional background is in comparative and international criminal law. He has been the the International Co-Investigating Judge at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia since 2015. Prior to joining Durham University in 2004, he had been a life-tenured judge in Germany for 13 years. He helped train the judges of the Iraqi High Tribunal which tried Saddam Hussein. In 2012, he was the first non-Muslim visiting scholar ever to teach at the Faculty of Law of Al-Azhar University in Cairo. His current main focus is on the relationship between the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence and human law in the wider sense. He also has an interest in the evaluation of evidence about encounters with UAP in a forensic context. He is the convenor of the new three-year working group "SETI and Law" under the auspices of the International Institute of Space Law.

Our discussants for this event are Dr Steve Fuller, who currently holds the Auguste Comte Chair in Social Epistemology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick in the U.K.; and Dr Michael Uhall, political theorist and faculty member at Indiana University East here in the U.S.
