This famous Dutch Castle is the Netherlands' largest and arguably their most luxurious. It has 200 rooms and 30 bathrooms and was only used by the family for 1 month a year as an entertainment site.

Whilst incredibly decadent, the varied decor, collections and grand grounds make for an interesting visit. You can even get lost in a maze, or catch fish in the moat.

Today it is run as a museum but the van Zuylen van Nijevelt family still are able to use it 1 month per year. I daresay with 200 rooms to choose from, they can still invite a few quests over.

So, we enjoyed a surprising day in the Kastle de Haar, and we trust you also enjoyed your visit with this very different Remote Places NZ video, one of our Europe series and that it encourages you to get out and enjoy this wonderful creation we live in.
