Unmarked Billz selects a persuasive array of broken beat-driven tracks, heavily influenced by Jamaican sound system culture, the 90’s UK rave scene and explores their progression into today’s global soundscape. Having been exposed to Ali G way too early in his youth, and bolstered by the joyful approach of People Do Nothing, Billz takes an angle of never taking himself too seriously and paying homage to heritage. Slowly but surely seeping into Naarm’s underground scene, first featured on @plasmalab_melb live streams through lockdown, Billz was booked by the humble yet mighty @delightlabel and soon after secured a monthly resident slot @restless.naarm bass edition frequenting @section8melbourne and @ferdydurke.
Firmly rooted in Reggae and Boom-Bap and exposed to a host of cross-cultural influences growing up, Unmarked Billz pushes his interpretations into the realms of Jungle, UKG, DnB, Breaks, 140, Afrobeat, Alternative UK Hip-Hop, Dub and left left-field bass sounds. Expect in the coming months, his heavily sampled productions that exude fun, screw-faced, hostage negotiation/heist energy.
