In this video we cover how to drill square mortises in a rake staircase handrail by using a hollow chisel tilt mortiser. Sometimes a clean look is desirable with no baluster shoes which then requires a square mortise. When doing a staircase work a hollow chisel tilt mortiser is a must. Note that these machines are very hard to find. I provided the link below on where I purchased my mortiser.
