Merritt was featured in a story by Jay Berry on the local news affiliate of ABC (WXYZ - Channel 7) in Detroit, Michigan. In week 5 of the season, Henry Ford (4-1) entered a matchup against their rival, Detroit Redford (5-0), for homecoming. This game was for the West Division championship and a spot in the PSL playoffs. Merritt had three touchdowns, and Henry Ford defeated Redford 39-0.
