The uncomfortable truth about forgiveness:
It's not about forcing yourself to forget the past or accept unacceptable behaviors, nor is it about having to reconcile with them or reopen doors that need to remain closed.
Forgiveness is really for you — it's about releasing the burden of anger and resentment that may be weighing you down. It's about making peace with your past on your own terms and reaching a place where someone else’s actions no longer have a hold over you.
Remember: In the end, it's you (and only you) who defines how you heal and move on.
