The Republic of the Island of Roses was a short-lived micronation on a man-made platform in the Adriatic Sea, 11 km off the coast of the province of Rimini, Italy.

Ilha das Rosas was built by the Italian engineer Giorgio Rosa, who proclaimed himself its president and declared him an independent state on May 1, 1968.

Ilha das Rosas had its own government, currency, post office and commercial establishments, and the official language was Esperanto.

However, it has never been formally recognized as a sovereign state by any country in the world. Seen by the Italian government as Rosa's ploy to earn money from tourists, avoiding national taxation, the Isle of Roses was occupied by Italian police forces on June 26, 1968, subject to naval blockade, and eventually demolished in February 2004. 1969.

Since the first decade of the 2000s, the history of Ilha das Rosas has been the subject of documentary research and rediscovered from the utopian aspect of its genesis.
