As actress, vocalist, and two-time RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon prepares to make herstory with her Broadway debut as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton in ‪@chicagothemusical‬—beginning an 8-week limited engagement on Monday, January 16th, 2023—The Queer Review's editor ‪@EditorJamesKleinmann‬ had an exclusive conversation with the certified drag legend. During the interview, Jinkx shares how she's feeling about taking on the iconic role, how meaningful it is to her to be bringing drag to Broadway, spills the tea on her missing bags ahead of her appearance at Drag Con UK, and contemplates the difference between her two Drag Race wins.

Tickets for Chicago the musical on Broadway are available in person at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W 49th St, New York). Box office hours are Monday through Saturday 10am-8:30pm, Sunday 12pm-7:30pm. Tickets are also available online at https://chicagothemusical.com. Jinkx Monsoon will play Mama Morton from Monday, January 16th, 2023 through Sunday, March 12th, 2023.

Jinkx Monsoon made a memorable festive cameo in Clea DuVall’s Happiest Season with fellow Drag Race alum BenDeLaCreme, with whom she co-wrote and co-starred in the acclaimed holiday tours of To Jesus, Thanks for Everything! -Jinkx and Dela, All I Want for Christmas is Attention, The Return of The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show, LIVE!, and 2022's The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show 2022, as well as The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special, streaming on Hulu.

With her musical partner Major Scales, Jinkx Monsoon has travelled the globe performing in shows like The Vaudevillians and released two records, The Inevitable Album and The Ginger Snapped. On stage, she’s played the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch (winning the Gregory Award), while on screen she’s appeared on the CBS cop show Blue Bloods, alongside Mama Ru in AJ and the Queen, voiced characters for queer animated series Steven Universe, and has been the subject of two documentaries, Drag Becomes Him and The Queens.
